Researchers from Trinity College Dublin have uncovered a uniquely quantum effect in erasing information that may have significant implications for the practical design in quantum computing. Their surprising discovery brings back to life the paradoxical "Maxwell's demon," which has vexed physicists for over 150 years. Computational Thermodynamics emerged in 1961 when Rolf Landauer, then at IBM, discovered a relationship between the dissipation of heat and logically irreversible operations. Landauer is known for his leitmotif "Information is Physical," which reminds us that information is not always abstract and may be instantiated into a physical substrate.

by Alex Vikoulov [Posted September 15, 2020 11.00 pm PST] "Think of the new conception of time, Digital Presentism, like real-time streaming of progressively generated content in immersive virtual reality. We’re all familiar with online music streaming, too: When you stream music online, every bit is discretely rendered, interpreted and finally interwoven into your unitary experiential reality. Only with Digital Presentism 'music' is also being created in 'real time' as if right from your mind... Since time can’t be absolute but is always subjective, Digital Presentism revolves around observer-centric temporality. What we call ‘time’ is a sequential change between static perceptual 'frames,' it’s an emergent phenomenon, 'a moving image of eternity' as Plato famously said more than two millennia ago." -Alex M. Vikoulov, The Physics of Time: D-Theory of Time & Temporal Mechanics

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ecstadelic Media Group releases a new non-fiction book More Than An Algorithm by Antonin Tuynman PhD as a Kindle eBook (Press Release, San Francisco, CA, USA, July 3, 2019 11.00 AM PST) A palette of intelligence explored. In this book, the author invites you to the musings of master algorithms, brain fractals and Chinese rooms. This book, aimed at science-savvy readers, makes you question the validity of the Many-Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics, tries to reconcile the paradoxes of idealistic panpsychism and shows you the parallels between the codes of evolution and the routines of the human mind. Countering the Computational Hypothesis, according to which our minds are computational in nature, the philosopher skillfully presents his case that our knowledge, and more specifically intelligence, well may be more than a mere algorithm.
by Alex Vikoulov [Posted July 1, 2019 3.50 pm PST] Physicists Paweł Caputa at Kyoto University and Javier Magan at the Instituto Balseiro of Argentina publish their paper on the curious link between quantum computation and gravity I call it synchronicity -- just days after posting my article "Love is the glue that holds the Universe together, literally" (which was supposed to be a poetic deviation excerpted from The Syntellect Hypothesis), I come across yet another hard theoretical confirmation for the not-so-poetic universal principle related to quantum gravity. That was delivered in the new paper "Quantum Computation As Gravity" by physicists Paweł Caputa at Kyoto University and Javier Magan at the Instituto Balseiro, Centro Atómico de Bariloche in Argentina that has been published in a recent issue of Physical Review Letters. |
